Hot wife reborn

Lin Xiaoxiao stood frozen in the middle of the living room. All the furniture was gone. Aside from a thick layer of dust, the floor was littered with scattered papers. It was clear no one had lived here for a long time.

A sudden panic seized her. She began shouting for her parents, but no one answered. Frantic, she rushed from room to room, upstairs and down—every space was hollow and stripped bare.

An involuntary fear gripped her. She desperately searched for any clue, any trace left behind, but found nothing.

Just as she stood there, helpless and overwhelmed, the front door swung open. The original host of her body walked in, wearing a short black lace dress. Her face was haggard, as if she had aged ten years, though her hair was still dyed in gaudy colors.

A man in a suit followed her inside—he looked like a real estate agent.

The original host led him around, showing him both floors before speaking impatiently, "So how much can you offer? I need cash. As soon as possible."

The agent glanced around. This riverfront duplex in prime Shanghai real estate was the kind of place people dreamed of for generations. He eyed the garish woman skeptically. "Are you certain the property is yours?"

"Of course it's mine. How else would I know the passcode? How else would we get in? The price is negotiable, but I need cash. Now."

The agent scanned the vast empty space once more. "May I see the property deed?"

He still didn't believe she was the owner.

Annoyed, she snapped, "If I had the deed, would I be selling so cheap? My parents are away—they didn't leave it with me. But I swear this is my house. Check the records if you don't believe me!"

The agent shook his head. "Without the property deed, even if you are the owners' daughter, you have no right to sell. I'm sorry, I can't help you."

Before he could leave, two more men entered. They paused, surprised to see people inside, then addressed the original host politely but firmly: "Mr. and Mrs. Lin have donated the property. The proceeds from its sale will establish the Xiaoxiao Foundation to support children with congenital heart disease."

The original host flew into a rage. "That's impossible! How dare they sell without telling me? Where are they? I demand to see them!"

One of the men shook his head. "They've joined a Médecins Sans Frontières mission. We don't know their current location. Before leaving, Mr. and Mrs. Lin entrusted us with liquidating all their assets—movable and immovable—to fund the Xiaoxiao Foundation. The foundation will be managed by a close friend of the late Chairman Lin."

He gestured toward the well-dressed man beside him.

Lin Xiaoxiao stared in shock. She watched the original host unravel into hysterics, and she recognized the man next to the agent—Fu Dongcheng, a friend of her brother's. Elegant but ruthless, a titan of the business world.

Her parents had donated everything... and named the foundation after her.

Did that mean they knew the woman claiming to be their daughter was an imposter?

Fu Dongcheng gave the original host a cold nod. "All procedures have been legally notarized. Everything is lawful. You're welcome to make a scene, but I suggest you consider the consequences. Also, I'm currently investigating Lin Wenbin's death. If I find evidence you were involved, I will personally feed you to the sharks."

The original host shrank back, trembling. This elegantly cruel man could kill with a single glance.

Too frightened—and too guilty—to speak, she could only step backward.

Fu Dongcheng's eyes swept the room. "Have this place cleaned immediately. All this trash can go. I don't want to see anything alive in here next time I come." With that, he left with his team.

The original host collapsed to the floor, screaming and pounding the dusty boards. "How could you! This is my house! Those two old monsters gave it away!"

She cried and cursed, but without a cent to her name, she had no idea what to do.

Lin Xiaoxiao moved closer and knelt down, staring at the woman who was destroying her former life. That was her body—but what had she done to it? And where were her parents?

Overcome with anger, she reached out, wanting to strangle the impostor.

Just then, a clap of thunder startled her awake.

She sat up gasping in the dark, her heart racing.

She pressed a hand to her chest. It didn't hurt. Did that mean her parents were okay? That they had only donated their fortune?

Unable to fall back asleep, she faintly heard a baby crying downstairs.

Letting out a slow breath, she put on her clothes and went down. Zhou Zhennan was pacing the living room, gently rocking An'an in his arms.

The baby fussed for a moment, then settled quietly against his chest.

"Did we wake you?" Zhou Zhennan whispered. "Not sure if it was the thunder, but she started crying out of nowhere. I didn't want her to disturb your mom, so I came out here. Luckily, she calmed down."

Lin Xiaoxiao reached for the baby. "I'll take her upstairs with me."

Zhou Zhennan nodded. "Xuanxuan is still sound asleep. Don't worry about him."

Upstairs, An'an slept peacefully in her arms, nuzzling softly against her.

Lin Xiaoxiao's heart ached. Just hearing the baby cry had been unbearable. How much pain had her parents gone through?

How heartbreaking must it have been to give up everything—even the daughter who wasn't really theirs?

The next morning, when Lin Wenbin came over, she pulled him into the study and told him about the dream. "Brother, where do you think they are now?"

Lin Wenbin didn't seem surprised. "Maybe watching lions on the African savannah, or seeing the sunset in the desert. Don't worry—I'm sure they're fine."

But how could she not worry? "They must be so sad without us. I can't even stand hearing the babies cry."

He comforted her gently, "Think of it this way: At least they aren't being taken advantage of by that impostor anymore. They're together, doing charity work they love. Maybe one day we'll find them. Or they'll come back to us. Our family will be whole again."

Tears welled in Lin Xiaoxiao's eyes. "If Mom and Dad can really come back, I'd even be willing for my brother to go bald."

Lin Wenbin pinched her neck in mock anger. "We're having a serious conversation here."

She squirmed away, smiling faintly. "I am serious. You going bald is a small price to pay for that wish to come true."
